No criminal charges have been filed against owners of a Meridian restaurant visited by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Wednesday, according to the restaurant’s attorney.
William “Bill” Ready, Jr., an attorney with the Ready Law Firm, said the search warrant was simply a request to review the records of Sake Sushi, located in the Crossroads shopping center in Meridian.
Officials requested I-9 forms, which verify that individuals working for the business are legal residents, he said.
Ready said the I-9 forms and other documentation had already been provided to officials and that Sake Sushi would be opening again soon.
