ANDOVER, Kan. UPDATE: The Butler County Sheriff’s Office has now identified the man whose body was found near SW 130th & Tawakoni as 38-year old Jared K. Wright of Augusta.

Herzet says the crash happened near Kellogg and Yorktown inAndover, and is connected to a body found 4 AM Saturday in a rural part of Butler County.

“We just need to find the person or persons involved in this and hit this gentleman, and then picked his body up if so they did, and drop it off in the middle of the road,” Herzet said.

The victim, is Jared K. Wright, 38, of Augusta.

The sheriff says two people delivering newspapers early Saturday morning found that man’s body between 130th and 140th on Tawakoni, which is more than 6 miles away from where the sheriff says the crash first happened.

It has people familiar with the quiet area surprised.

“There’s times I come out here and ride and I only see one car all day. Right? So it can get pretty isolated out here at times. That’s pretty scary,” said Kevin Bomhoff from Wichita, who frequently rides his bike in the area.

“Don’t ever hear of something like that. For somebody to just come all the way out here and dump a body and leave it unconsciously is just crazy,” said Shawn Sinderson from Rose Hill. Sinderson was asked to make sure people didn’t cross a road closed sign near the area where Wright was found.

The sheriff says some of what he believes is the victim’s property was found back at the crash site.

“We did find what appeared to be some shoes and socks, a pair of jeans a cell phone. Items such as that,” Herzet said. “He was missing some of his clothing.”

While investigators work to piece together what happened, they’re also asking for your help.

“Somebody surely had to seen something. But there is a vehicle out there with front end damage or damage to the right side. Broken out mirror possibly, broken glass,” Herzet said. “We need to figure out how this body got from this area to about 6 miles from this area.”

Wright was last seen walking away from an Arby’s in Andover around 12:30am Saturday.

The sherifff’s office says if you know anything about this case, please call 911.
